Visitors to the exhibit hall during the upcoming American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Combined Sections Meeting will have the chance to “fall” and be “caught” to earn a chance to win a free iPad, during the Trust Fall Challenge, hosted by Biodex Medical Systems Inc.

Biodex offers the Trust Fall Challenge at its exhibit hall booth as a way to promote safe patient handling and mobility, and to encourage conversations about the importance of incorporating technology into safe patient handling and mobility programs.

At the center of the challenge is the Biodex Mobility Assist, which according to the company is a combination motorized stand-assist and walker designed to help physical therapists achieve faster outcomes in a safe environment.

During the Trust Fall Challenge, participants will be able to strap into the Mobility Assist and fall back, trusting the sturdy frame and harness to keep them safe from injury as they would a patient while standing up or ambulating, Biodex notes in a media release.

Eric J. Farabaugh, MBA, MHA, PT, vice president of physical medicine sales at Shirley, NY-based Biodex, shares that via the Trust Fall Challenge, the overall message regarding safe patient handling can be expressed much greater.

“Between patient safety and cost associated with worker injury, safe patient handling and mobility programs are becoming more and more vital,” he states. “Physical therapists and administrators are looking for a practical, versatile solution they can implement today. We’re excited to be driving these discussions in such a creative, interactive way at CSM.”
