Per an agreement with Reflexion Health, Greensboro Orthopaedics is now using VERA, the FDA-cleared Virtual Exercise Rehabilitation Assistant, as part of its postoperative rehabilitation offering for total joint-replacement patients.

VERA, provided by Reflexion Health, is a digital platform designed to bring the guidance of a physical therapist into the home along with tools to help clinicians remotely monitor patient progress outside the clinic.

“At Greensboro, we are constantly identifying new technologies to help us accommodate the needs of our joint replacement patients,” says Frank V. Aluisio, MD, orthopaedic surgeon at Greensboro Orthopaedics, in a media release.

“Implementing transformative technology like VERA gives us a way to deliver consistent, high-quality postoperative care at a fixed cost.”

Joseph Smith, MD, PhD, chief executive officer at Reflexion Health, adds, “We’re proud to help Greensboro innovate and enhance their post-operation offerings by leveraging our technology to build upon their capabilities and deliver value for patients. The enthusiasm for VERA continues to grow, and we look forward to helping patients across the country recover in the safety, comfort, and convenience of their own homes.”

VERA operates using an avatar and guided therapy exercises, and patients receive audio-visual feedback that helps them stay engaged and motivated to complete these exercises. Patients and clinicians stay connected throughout recovery, ensuring continuity of care beyond the clinic walls, the release continues.
