CoviDB, the COVID-19 resource database and platform created by the nonprofit TeachAids, announces partnerships with three top global health and education institutions.
Leadership from the Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education (SPICE), Stanford’s Center for Innovation in Global Health (CIGH) and the Institute for Global Health Sciences (IGHS) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), have joined forces to develop and distribute COVID-19 content, programming, and study materials for people around the world.
For 44 years, SPICE has served as a bridge between Stanford University and K–12 schools and community colleges by developing multidisciplinary curricular materials on international topics, conducting teacher professional development seminars, and teaching distance-learning courses. Their content is distributed to educators and students in 30 countries globally.
CoviDB’s first content initiative, the CoviDB Speaker Series, will be coupled with special teacher guides developed by SPICE, a media release from TeachAids notes.
“At a time when high-quality online education is needed most, we are proud to partner with TeachAids, a global health education leader with a proven track record for success with whom we have collaborated with for the past ten years. Through our distribution networks, this content will reach more than 10,000 schools in every major school district in the U.S., as well as international schools throughout the world,” Dr Gary Mukai, the Director of SPICE, says in the release.
Stanford’s Center for Innovation in Global Health (CIGH) shares knowledge, equips leaders, and builds teams to address urgent global health challenges and achieve global health equity.
“Our mission to inspire the next generation of global health leaders is especially critical during this COVID-19 pandemic,” states Dr Michele Barry, Senior Associate Dean of Global Health at Stanford and the Director of CIGH, “We are honored to partner with TeachAids to produce and expand the reach of the CoviDB content throughout our global health community.”
Dr Barry will serve as a special advisor to the CoviDB Video Series, and CIGH will play a key role in distributing the content through their global network.
Since its founding, IGHS has pioneered new relevance for academic global health, with deep commitments to improving the health of marginalized communities in the United States and around the world. Leadership from their institute will be joining this powerful collaboration to help support and develop content for the CoviDB Video Series.
