A live 1-day seminar presented by Cross Country Education will highlight practical applications of manual lymphatic therapy. The educational event aims to provide an overview of lymphatic therapy, including what it is and what it can do, as well as how clinicians can properly apply the techniques of this therapy in specific clinical cases. Participants will examine the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of lymphedema in addition to the indications and contraindications for manual lymphatic therapy.

Seminar participants will perform the techniques in a hands-on lab. According to Cross Country Education, the seminar aims to provide clinicians with a “new set of glasses” for evaluating clients and new treatment strategies to implement in their clinic. Attendees will discover clinical applications of manual lymphatic therapy for patients experiencing the effects of pain, trauma, cancer, surgery, and other common conditions. Participants will also review the anatomy of the lymphatic system.

Additional course objectives include: identifying indications and contraindications for lymphatic therapy; recognizing indications and contraindications for administering therapy to clients with these conditions; and demonstrating knowledge to educate patients on the ways they can increase their own lymphatic circulation. In addition, participants will demonstrate manual lymphatic therapy techniques, discuss this therapy as a way to enhance patient outcomes in rehabilitation, and recognize how to document for maximum reimbursement.

Carmen Thompson, BS, LPTA, CMT, CLT, will be the presenter for this educational seminar. The event presently has dates scheduled in California in October and Texas in August. For additional information on this course or to register, visit www.crosscountryeducation.com.
