Ground was recently broken on a new 10,000 square-foot wing at Woodhaven Nursing, Alzheimer’s and Rehabilitation Center on Pine Run Drive in Lumberton, NC, for the short-term rehabilitation program. Officials from Southeastern Health, Cape Fear Construction, and Lamb and Highsmith Architects broke ground on the project March 12, according a news story from Southeastern Health.

The story reports that it also plans to renovate the existing 8,000-square-foot short-term rehab section in order to provide private rooms with private baths.

The story states that the new addition and renovated section of the facility will house a physical and occupational gym, day room, and entertainment theatre. Short-term rehab rooms will also provide Smart IVs. The story also notes that the facility will be designed with colors and themes intended to encourage patients to become mobile as soon as possible following surgery, while also encouraging visits from friends and family to support the healing process.
