AlterG, maker of the anti-gravity treadmill, announces the appointment of health and medical veteran Sanjay Gupta as its new CEO.

Gupta—not to be confused with the media personality with the same name—joins Fremont, Calif-headquartered AlterG after a 17-year tenure at Johnson & Johnson, where he held several roles in general management, marketing, sales, operations, and new business development; both domestically and overseas.

Most recently, Gupta served as president of Johnson & Johnson’s Wellness & Prevention division. In this role, Gupta integrated two acquisitions – HealthMedia and The Human Performance Institute – into a new division focused on developing solutions for health, wellness and disease management, according to a media release from AlterG.

“The board and the executive management team is delighted to have Sanjay join the team,” says Ross Jaffe, MD, managing director of Versant Ventures and an AlterG board member, in the release. “His strong experience in developing and optimizing wellness and disease management opportunities, and his understanding of how to be successful in dynamic markets, make him an ideal leader for a category-leading innovator like AlterG.”
