New York-Presbyterian University Hospital Joins Own The Bone Program

Columbia University Medical Center and its affiliated hospital New York-Presbyterian recently implemented the American Orthopaedic Association (AOA)’s Own the Bone™ program to enhance prevention and treatment of fragility fractures.

"… The Own the Bone program will help us ensure that our patients with fragility fractures are screened and appropriately treated for osteoporosis," said William Macaulay, MD, chief of the Division of Adult Reconstruction and director of the Center for Hip and Knee Replacement at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.

Own the Bone is a national Web-based quality improvement program that encourages a multidisciplinary approach to patient care after a fracture. It is designed to improve the diagnosis and management of patients' bone health after suffering fragility fractures.

The program provides physicians with immediate quantitative feedback to demonstrate how they are positively affecting patient care.

NewYork-Presbyterian was rated among the top 10 hospitals in the United States for orthopedic care by the most recent edition of U.S. News & World Report.
