Vibration Training Heading for Hotels and Spas

5/23/07

As vibration training gains in popularity across the United States it is likely to gain a foothold in the public’s consciousness as it becomes more high profile and more readily available.

One of the leading forces behind the technique’s rise in popularity, Power Plate North America, has reached an agreement with Advantage Fitness Products (AFP) to make it even more accessible and well known by placing products in hotels and spas.

AFP company focuses on planning, design, supply, service, and support to non-traditional fitness environments, and will be able to leverage its significant success in serving both the day-spa and resort/hotel-spa categories to effectively penetrate this market category on behalf of Power Plate.

Vibration training exploits the body’s innate reflexive response to disruptions in stability in order to stimulate a wide array of benefits including increases in muscle strength, flexibility, hormonal release, lymphatic drainage, bone density, and metabolic rates. The body’s muscles engage in an involuntary reflexive muscle contraction 30-50 times per second in response to the vibration stimulus. Because of this significant volume of muscular activity, training sessions are mandated to last no longer than 15 minutes, three-to-four times a week.

Studies have shown promising results when used as an aid for recovery from an ACL injury, as well as therapy for stroke patients.
