Sling Seat Sensor Switch and AlarmAliMed® Inc introduces its new Sling Seat Switch and alarm system, which is useful for those who monitor wheelchair patients prone to wandering. The sensor system eliminates the need for chair-sensor pads, which may be susceptible to failure, false alarms, and tampering, and may need frequent upkeep. Designed exclusively for use with sling-seat wheelchairs, the device is mounted out of sight beneath the seat where it is virtually tamper-proof. It helps eliminate false alarms often associated with pads because it does not malfunction from folding or exposure to wetness, and will not shift out of position. When patients sit down, the sling is depressed and the sensor is deactivated. When patients begin to rise, the sensor is activated by a mechanical spring, sounding the alarm.
