Deep Muscle Stimulator

The DMS (Deep Muscle Stimulator) from DMS Inc provides deep muscle tissue with kinetic forms of percussion and concussion vibration, and helps provide increased circulation, reduced pain, faster rehabilitation from injury, increased lymphatic flow, breakup of muscular scar tissue, reduced lactic acid buildup, tissue regeneration, and soft- and active-tissue release. The device concentrates on general or local muscle spasms, helping to increase muscle metabolism and the lactic acid cycle to help relieve pain. It can play a role in the management of acute and chronic pain, such as migraine headaches, sciatica, TMJ, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, bursitis, edema, myofacial pain, and frozen joints. It also aids recovery from soft-tissue injuries such as sprains and strains. The stimulator can be used on trigger points or to isolate a specific muscle group, and as a tool for pre- and post-rehabilitation and workouts.

Bamboo-Based Fabric

Poly-Gel LLC has developed BambooTecc™ fabric with a concentration of natural bamboo in the yarn, which helps maximize antiodor and wicking effects. Natural bamboo particles on the inside and the surface provide consistent coverage. The combination of naturally breathable fibers helps thermally regulate body temperature and provides a cooler and dryer feeling on hot days. An insulating effect helps create warmth and maintains body temperature in the cold. Bamboo is an eco-friendly product that contains inherent biocidal properties and helps inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. Pores in its structure help absorb odor-causing chemicals, control temperature, and void moisture. The product can be washed without diminishing its antimicrobial effectiveness, which makes it useful for everyday patients and those who are highly active or diabetic. BambooTecc is a standard top cover on all HealixCare insoles. BambooTecc and the BambooTecc/VEVA combination can be purchased in sheets or rolls for use with many treatment options.

Gait Harness System

Second Step Inc introduces the Total Transfer gait harness system, a combined transfer and therapy system that offers patients a new way to sit, stand, and walk without complex transfer setups. It helps eliminate bending and lifting, and transports patients from a bed into a supported, standing position. The system helps foster patient comfort and safety during the transfer and therapy process, and addresses patient needs from acute to chronic settings. The system is used by caregivers and those in occupational and physical therapy settings to help people walk again after challenges due to loss of balance; falls; SCIs; TBIs; Parkinson's disease; Alzheimer's disease; lower-extremity amputations; orthotic use; and other ambulation, gait, and balance rehabilitation challenges. Sitting, standing, and walking can be accomplished while helping to prevent back injury to therapists and the risk of falls for patients.

The company used experience gained in developing custom orthoses in creating the prefabs. The product features a 14-mm heel cup, a 4/4 rearfoot post, a 2-mm medial heel skive, a semirigid polypropylene shell, and a 3° Blake inversion. It can be ordered with a full-length EVA top cover. Postop Recovery System for Knees

CoolSystems Inc, dba Game Ready, offers the Articulated Knee Wrap, a postoperative recovery system for knees. Patients who are prescribed continuous passive motion (CPM) therapy after anterior cruciate ligament repair or total knee-replacement surgery may benefit from the system's continuous cold therapy and intermittent compression. The product targets orthopedic surgeons seeking to help patients recover from knee surgery, PTs and athletic trainers treating patients unable to fully extend the knee, and patients seeking to play an active role in their knee-surgery recovery. Available by prescription only, the wraps are for use with CPM therapy, a postoperative treatment that helps patients maintain and recover range of motion following joint surgery. It provides circumferential intermittent compression; is formfitting and flexible; and allows patients to bend the knee so they can apply intermittent pressure, cryotherapy, and CPM. Leveraging patented NASA technology, the system delivers cold and compression to help people recover from injuries or orthopedic surgery when used as part of the RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation) regimen.

Biofeedback Device

Metron Medical Inc offers the Spinal Sensa, a new biofeedback device designed to allow therapists to set spinal positioning information, individually programmed for patients. The unit consists of a clinical base station and a patient sensor. The sensor is programmed in the clinic to give patients a range of motion for acceptable flexion and extension of the lumbar spine. While patients wear the programmed sensor at the prescribed intervals, a vibration alerts them when they move outside the range. Upon returning to the clinic, the information collected by the sensor is downloaded back to the clinical base station to give therapists an indication of the spinal movements and positioning of the patient's lumbar spine during the recording period. The unit is patented worldwide. The treatment is clinically reimbursable. The device helps retrain those with poor posture to improve or eliminate lower back pain.

Orbital Dual Balance Gym

The Orbital Dual Balance Gym is an extremely stable platform that is designed to be used as a balance board and Pilates resistance conditioning station. There are numerous advantages of this system over traditional balance, BABs, and/or Wobble boards. With the addition of the Pilates resistance tubes, adjustable straps, resistance bar, leg strap, and roll-up bar, this balance board becomes a total-body workout gym. The Orbital Dual Balance Gym operates on a patented system that rotates on a pivot point and not on a ball. This allows for gentle, orbital rotation in all three planes. In addition, its base has numerous heavy-duty rubber feet, which will not allow the unit to slide or slip under hard usage by patients. Benefits include: balance training, sensory stimulation, proprioception training, faster rehab times, increased blood flow, decreased edema swelling, increased range of motion, decreased scar tissue, increased oxygenation, and core strengthening. The Orbital Dual Balance Gym has a multitude of applications, including balance training, upper- and lower-body conditioning, core strengthening, isometric exercise, foot and ankle conditioning, hand strengthening, shoulder stability strengthening, and numerous other applications.
