Mobility Products & Aids

Pediatric Forearm Crutches

Walk Easy Inc offers comfortable and lightweight, epoxy-coated forearm crutches for ages 3 and up. They feature either full plastic cuffs or open half cuffs. The full cuffs have a V-shape front opening for quick release and pivot 90o. The height of the crutch is fully adjustable and secured with durable clip-on metal pins. The distance from the handgrip to the cuff is also adjustable by a secure double push-button mechanism. Crutches are latex free and backed by a limited lifetime warranty. Available in a wide assortment of colors and three sizes: toddler, pediatric, and youth.

Tub Safety Grip

This ADA-compliant tub grip features two textured grip areas at different heights—a higher grip for entering the tub and a lower grip for exiting—to provide optimum stability when stepping in and out of the tub. The grip features a bracing system with an easy-to-lock clamp, which means no difficult twisting motion during installation. Its adjustable locking mechanism attaches easily to most bathtub walls from 3 inches to 5 inches thick. Its nonskid pads protect tub walls from nicks and scratches, and its cool white finish blends well with most décors. Eliminate the risk of falls in the bath with Home Care by Moen’s Locking Dual Tub Grip.

Five-Point Safety Harness for Wheelchairs

Research published by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) found that a wheelchair-anchored five-point restraint harness will offer improved restraint and safety to small children compared to a three-point lap and shoulder belt. The research resulted in a proposed change to the ANSI-RESNA WC/19 standard requiring wheelchairs for users weighing less than 50 pounds to be tested with the five-point harness. Convaid Inc has developed and crash-tested a WC/19 transit wheelchair with an integrated five-point harness.

Foot Drop Treatment

Central nervous system injuries often result in foot drop—leading to instability and difficulty walking. The NESS L300™ neuro-rehabilitation system features functional electrical stimulation (FES) technology, designed to help patients experiencing foot drop to regain mobility and help "normalize" walking and gait. The L300 uses wireless communication to "talk" to its components, eliminating cumbersome wires and allowing the clinician the ability to fine-tune settings while the patient is actually walking. This user-friendly system is appropriate for a broad range of conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and incomplete spinal cord injury.

Patient Transfer Aid

The SafetySure Pivot Disc is designed for patients who are able to stand but cannot readily move their legs. A patient with impaired mobility from paralysis or limited upper-body function can use the Pivot Disc without a caregiver’s assistance, which helps prevent caregiver back strain. Antislip material on the top and bottom of the Pivot Disc ensures a safe transfer between the bed and the wheelchair. It is made from durable plastic and is available in three sizes: 13 inches, 15 inches, and 18 inches. Mobility Transfer Systems designs and manufactures medical products made to improve the quality of life for physically challenged individuals and the elderly. It specializes in mobility and fall-management products for the home, the assisted living facility, the nursing home, and the hospital environment.

Support for Amputees

Gerber Chair Mates Inc manufactures a unique, Swing-Away Stump Support for amputees that maintains proper positioning to help prevent knee-flexion contracture and edema. Proper healing of the stump promotes correct fitting and/or use of a prosthesis. The support is a natural part of the wheelchair, not a glaring adaptation. Individuals can maintain a sense of independence and a positive self-image. The Gerber stump support is not a leg rest; it is designed for optimal healing. Approved by PTs, the stump support facilitates patient transfer and allows daily activities to be performed with ease. It is padded for comfort and features horizontal and vertical adjustments for varied stump lengths and cushion thicknesses.
