Breg Awarded 3-Year Supply Contract

BREG Inc, Huntersville, NC, a medical-device company specializing in orthopedic, reconstructive, and postoperative products, and a division of Orthofix International, Antilles, Netherlands, Antilles, has entered a 3-year agreement with Novation, a group-purchasing organization. Under the terms of the contract, BREG will supply its Polar Care® cold-therapy product line to hospitals that belong to VHAInc, Irving, Tex, and the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC), Oak Brook, Ill—the two health care alliances that own Novation. The agreement also extends to health care organizations that purchase supplies through HealthCare Puchasing Partners International (HPPI), a group-purchasing organization owned by VHAand UHC.

dj Orthopedics Closes Acquisition Of Newmed

On January 2, 2006, dj Orthopedics Inc, San Diego, a medical-device company that specializes in rehabilitation and regeneration products for the nonoperative orthopedics and spine markets, closed its acquisition of Newmed SAS, for cash payments totaling aproximately $15.4 million. Newmed, through wholly owned subsidiaries in France and Spain operating under Axmed, designs, manufactures, and sells orthopedic-rehabilitation devices, including rigid knee braces. Generating the majority of its revenue in France, Axmed has also established a growing presence in Spain and other European markets.

Posey Pens Agreement with Amerinet

The Posey Co, Arcadia, Calif, signed a 3-year agreement with Amerinet Inc, St Louis, offering discount pricing of its restraint, restraint alternative, and fall-management health care products to Amerinet’s 35,000 members. According to Posey, the agreement opens up new marketing opportunities to promote and sell its full line of products, including fall-prevention monitors, fall-protection aids, the Posey Bed Canopy System, and seating and positioning products.
