SPRI Products introduces the Reset Glove, which strengthens the hand, wrist, and forearm by isolating smaller muscles to “reset” overused, hypertoned, or overdeveloped muscles for a more improved performance. The Reset Glove strengthens the muscles opposite the hypertoned muscles to create more balance and to lengthen the stressed muscles. The glove offers varying resistance levels and is designed to fit all hand sizes.

For more information, contact SPRI Products, 1600 Northwind Blvd, Libertyville, IL 60048; (800) 222-7774; www.spriproducts.com.

Pull-Cord Alarm

AliMed® offers the Magnetic Pull-Cord Alarm, which monitors patients who are likely to wander or fall. The Magnetic Pull-Cord Alarm attaches to patients and can be used as a bed, chair, or toilet alarm. The pull switch is released from any angle, activating the alarm. A holster is included that can be easily mounted to a wall or headboard, and the fabric fastener makes chair mounting simple.

The alarm’s pull cord adjusts from 28 inches to 58 inches and attaches directly to the patient’s clothes with an alligator clip. Other features include an on/off switch for easy deactivation, a battery-check button with LED, and two alarm settings—loud (95 dB) and soft (85 dB). Two AA batteries are included.

For more information, contact AliMed Inc, 297 High St, Dedham, MA 02026; (800) 225-2610; www.alimed.com.

The “Mini” is designed like the ATM2 system to immediately manage chronic and acute pain through the use of stabilization belts and resistance training, all in a weight-bearing posture with changing muscle-activation patterns. The ATM2-MD can go anywhere and can be setup and taken down for transport within minutes.

For more information, contact Back-Project Corp, 341 N Montgomery St, San Jose, CA 95110; (888) 470-8100; www.backproject.com.

Balance-Assessment Tool

The Metitur Good Balance System® provides objective assessment and retraining of the sensory and voluntary motor control of balance with visual biofeedback. The System utilizes a patented triangular 32-inch by 32-inch digital force plate to measure the vertical forces exerted by the patient’s feet. The System’s trigger functions enable the Good Balance to be synchronized with other measurement systems, such as EMG registration or movement analysis.

Exercise protocols available on the Good Balance System can be tailored to meet individual patient needs and can be progressed as patients’ capabilities improve. Reference values for different age groups from 8 up to 98 years are available; these values are based on a random population sample of more than 10,000 subjects.

The Metitur Good Balance System utilizes Bluetooth wireless technology to eliminate the need for any cables or connectors from the force plate to the computer. The composite force plate weights 12 lbs, and has an integrated handle for easy transportation. The Good Balance Evaluator screening software provides the clinician with an efficient portable tool to quickly screen individuals for balance impairments.

For more information, contact Metitur USA, 221 Mill Valley Dr, Colleyville, TX 76034; (888) 498-7874; www.metiturusa.com.

Practice Management Software

Clinicient offers Insight™, a new clinical management system that features tools for patient registration, scheduling, clinical documentation, and billing. Once data is entered, it is accessible to everyone given permission to see it. Instead of manually dictating and transcribing notes, documentation is created at the point of care and linked to patients’ records and the clinic schedule. Face sheets, backup documentation, and co-pay logs are entered as they are collected and stored in a central database where the billing staff can readily access it and rapidly bill electronically. Insight reports data in the form of “dashboards,” constantly monitoring the key performance indicators that drive patient satisfaction and business results.

The system allows clinic managers to assign and track tasks, as well as provides alerts at the first sign of potential problems. Clinicient’s “software on demand” infrastructure enables everyone to securely access the information they need, when they need it, using any personal computer connected to the Internet, decreasing the need to maintain servers in the clinic and worry about security, availability, and data backup.

For more information, contact Clinicient, 506 SW Sixth Ave, Suite 1111, Portland, OR 97204; (503) 525-0275 ext.1; www.clinicient.com.

Autopay saves several hours of manual data entry by automatically posting payments from a HIPAA-compliant 835 data file. Users have the option of setting personal preferences as to how each type of transaction should be handled on their system, which allows AS/PC® users to duplicate the same logic for adjustments, payments, and credits.

Its 5- x 8-foot surface enables users to perform a variety of sport-specific exercises. Six rotating discs swivel to allow unrestricted change of direction and side movement when contacted, forcing the body to balance and stabilize. The system helps develop lateral speed, agility, coordination, balance, and explosive power. It includes the board, the discs, two slide-board end ramps, a carry bag, booties, and a training video.

For more information, contact Perform Better, PO Box 8090, Cranston, RI 02920-0090; (800) 556-7464; www.performbetter.com.
