The new site, www.Thera-BandAcademy.com, features a comprehensive, searchable database of exercises, articles, research, and clinical applications for injury and disease rehabilitation.
The Thera-Band Academy Web site is a large resource for research, education, and exercise illustrations on elastic resistance. The database contains information and applications for rehabilitation exercises using Thera-Band. It also offers downloadable resources such as research references, patient brochures, and articles that are searchable by body part, injury, disease, population, sport, and product. The site also has information about the Academy, including clinical workshop schedules. Site visitors can also sign up to receive the Academy’s e-newsletter.

Laser Probes Receive FDA Clearance
Meditech International Inc announces that its 75mW Infrared and its 200mW Infrared Laser Probes have received Food and Drug Administration (FDA) market clearance in the United States. This completes FDA clearance of all of Meditech International Inc’s current product lines.
In 2004, Meditech received clearance for the distribution and sale of all its large-surface infrared and red arrays, which are used with the company’s Professional BioFlex Low Intensity Laser Therapy System.
The FDA clearance allows for the sale of the BioFlex System and its treatment heads, which are used to treat soft tissue, sports injuries, arthritis, and pain management.
Bauerfeind to Honor Compression-Therapy Designs
At the International Union of Phlebology (IUP) World Congress, to be held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, in October, the International Union of Phlebology and Bauerfeind Phlebology will present the Bauerfeind Scientific Phlebology Award to honor outstanding study designs in compression therapy.
Bauerfeind believes early and systematic treatment helps prevent disorders, such as deep vein thrombosis, from advancing. Thus, Bauerfeind, based in Germany, focuses on the development of innovative compression-therapy products and systems to meet the constantly growing requirements of physicians and patients.
The Bauerfeind Scientific Phlebology Award is endowed with $20,000 and will be distributed in two parts of $10,000 each.
Invacare Corp Acquires Medical Support Systems Holdings Ltd
Invacare Corp, Elyria, Ohio, has acquired Medical Support Systems (MSS) Holdings Ltd, the manufacturer of high-quality, foam-pressure-reducing products for the health-care market. MSS is based in the United Kingdom, with operations in Cardiff, Wales.
“We are pleased to have MSS join Invacare and strengthen our European position with its product offerings and market presence,” said A. Malachi Mixon, chairman and CEO of Invacare Corp. Terms of the cash purchase are not being disclosed.
