Professional Physical Therapy—with locations throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut—has acquired ProEx Physical Therapy, which has 18 clinics in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut.

Both practices have recently achieved national recognition: Professional Physical Therapy received 2016 ADVANCE for Physical Therapy and Rehab Medicine magazine’s annual Practice of the Year award, and ProEx Physical Therapy was nominated as one of three finalists for the 2016 WebPT Ascend Practice of the Year Award.

“As the healthcare environment continues to change, I am pleased that we not only expanded into multiple new regions, but have joined forces with one of the most prestigious physical therapy practices north of the NY metropolitan area,” says Adam Elberg, president, CEO and founding partner of Professional Physical Therapy, in a media release.

“I am honored that Mike Mulrenan and the ProEx team chose to partner with us to continue to provide high-quality patient care throughout the Northeast, and look forward to working alongside so many like-minded clinicians with excellent reputations, “ he adds.

Mike Mulrenan, CEO of ProEx Physical Therapy, states that, “While our patients will continue to receive the same expert, compassionate care from the ProEx clinicians, we will now have access to Professional Physical Therapy’s first-class Clinical Excellence program, which complements our own high-quality internal education and residency programs. We will also welcome Professional’s expertise in hand therapy and sports medicine.”

For the immediate future, the newly acquired ProEx clinics will continue to operate as ProEx Physical Therapy, and Mulrenan will be named Partner, and serve as the President of Professional’s ProEx division, according to the release.
