North American Seminars, headquartered in Franklin, Tenn, offers a new intermediate-level continuing education course on treating patients age 65 and older, on October 10 to 11.
Called “Geriatric Fractures and Joint Replacements,” the course is intended for therapists and trainers working in acute care, inpatient and outpatient settings, rehab facilities, and sports medicine centers, and will take place at Presbyterian St Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, according to a release from North American Seminars.
Led by instructor John Wilson, PT, DPT, MA, CSCS, the release notes that the course’s intention is to help participants develop efficient and effective rehabilitation programs for common lower-extremity geriatric dysfunction utilizing the best available evidence in conjunction with sound application of kinetic chain movement analysis.
The course will feature a hands-on manual therapy approach, and joint mobilization, neuromuscular facilitation, and movement re-education will be covered and practiced in labs. Its specific focus will be on how to integrate the core when facilitating lower-extremity function. Also covered will be motor control, specific movement analysis of gait mechanics, bridge mechanics, and squats, the release continues.
The course costs $450, and 15 hours of CME credit will be available.
