Axiobionics, headquartered in Ann Arbor, Mich, announces in a news release the launch of the TripleFlex category of medical devices for use in rehabilitation.

According to the company’s website, TripleFlex helps correct hip, knee, and foot drop by lifting each joint during the swing phase of gait.

Unlike orthotics, which the release suggests typically restrict movement, TripleFlex puts energy into a patient’s step by flexing the hip, knee, and ankle joints to improve the biomechanics of walking.

“We are delighted that so many patients and therapists have taken to TripleFlex this soon after its release,” says Philip Muccio, CPO, president and founder of Axiobionics, in the news release. “We knew that traditional bracing had limitations and that patients wanted something more dynamic.”

TripleFlex devices may be useful in patients with leg paralysis resulting from spinal cord injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, and flaccid paralysis, the website explains.
