MedRisk has announced that David Deitz, MD, PhD, will join the King of Prussia, Pa-based company as medical advisor and member of its International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB). MedRisk is a provider of physical rehabilitation and diagnostic imaging programs for the workers’ compensation industry.

Dietz notes in a company news release that, “Having worked with MedRisk for many years, I know many senior staff and ISAB members personally and others by reputation and look forward to working with them to provide the best possible advice in the development and execution of medical management programs.”

The release states that Dietz has 25 years’ experience in managed care, healthcare outcomes evaluation and reporting, and utilization management systems. Most recently, he served as the national medical director of commercial insurance claims for Liberty Mutual Insurance. According to the release, prior to Liberty Mutual, Dietz oversaw content development of managed care software and reporting systems that were successfully deployed at insurers nationwide.

Shelley Boyce, MedRisk CEO, says, “David’s in-depth knowledge of customer, provider, and patient needs will be invaluable in the implementation of MedRisk’s medical management programs for delayed recovery and other new program development.”

Phil McClure, PT, PhD, FAPTA, MedRisk’s ISAB chair, also welcomes Deitz, noting that Deitz’ “understanding of workers’ compensation medical review operations and medical policy complement other members’ skills and we’re looking forward to his contributions.”

The release reports that the ISAB is a panel of recognized clinicians with expertise in work-related physical medicine treatment strategies and diagnostic imaging protocols. The board oversees clinical aspects of MedRisk’s programs in order to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective quality care.
