The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) has posted a summary of the interim final rule amending regulations in the Veterans Choice Program issued by the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA). The rule allows for eligible veterans to receive care from non-VA entities and providers in certain circumstances. The APTA website notes that the organization aims to help members understand how the changes could impact physical therapists.
To this end, the APTA has posted a summary of the interim rule (found under the “summaries” header) from the VA. According to the APTA’s website, many of the changes place a key focus on definitions in Veterans Choice and clarifications around the non-VA providers who can provide hospital and medical services through the program.
The APTA summary is designed to offer highlights of provisions that may impact PTs, including copayment regulations, program scope, key terms, eligibility requirements, payment rates, and other issues.
The site notes that the interim final rule took effect November 5.
