The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) website reports that the association is offering new resources designed to assist physical therapists in understanding the final 2015 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) 2015 rules.
Summaries of the final rules include information about changes to the physician fee schedule, outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS), home health prospective payment system (HHPPS), and provisions regarding durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS). Members of the APTA can access these summaries of the final rules.
The site notes that the association will also provide a webinar November 20 for physical therapists who bill Meidcare for outpatient physical therapy services in private settings (using the 1500 claim form or 837-P) and face new requirements under the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS). The 90-minute session is slated to begin 2:00 pm ET and will assist physical therapists in understanding how to comply with the new rules in 2015 in order to avoid a 2% pay cut in 2017.
Heather Smith, PT, MPH, APTA director of Quality will lead the discussion. The site adds that registration for the webinar includes on-demand access to a recording of the webinar for later listening.
Additionally, the APTA offers members an overview of the PQRS changes through a free podcast.
