Errin Heyman has been selected by University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USA) to serve as its dean of educational effectiveness. USA is a member of Laureate International Universities, a network of more than 75 institutions in 29 countries and one of the most significant global higher education providers for health sciences.

Wanda Nitsch, USA president and chief academic officer, highlights Heyman’s “extensive experience in online education,” and her work with institutions that have several health sciences programs.

“She comes with a strong background in regional accreditation, outcomes assessment, and faculty development. We’re excited to have her join our team and start working to advance faculty development and assessment practices,” Nitsch says.

In her role, a USA news release reports that Heyman will work closely with academic and administrative leadership to advance institutional effectiveness systems and to coordinate faculty development opportunities with the goals of enhancing student engagement and educational practices of faculty.

The release notes that Heyman brings more than 15 years of leadership and academic experience in postsecondary education to her role at USA. She has served as a dean, director, and faculty member for a variety of institutions. Most recently, Heyman served as dean of the School of Education at Jones International University in Centennial, Colo, where she was responsible for curriculum, instruction, assessment of student learning, scholarship, strategic analysis and planning, and service.

Prior to her tenure at Jones International University, the release says Heyman served as the founding director of the Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Assessment (CELTA) at West Coast University in Irvine, Calif, establishing a culture of assessment that reportedly facilitated the achievement of student learning outcomes and encouraged innovation and scholarly discourse. She also held positions at eCollege in Denver and served as an English instructor at Westwood College, the University of Colorado, and Metropolitan State College.

Heyman earned her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix in 2010. The release notes that she earned her master’s and bachelor’s from the University of Colorado, Denver.
