The North American Caribbean Region (NACR), a regional body of the World Confederation of Physical Therapy (WCPT), will host a continuing education conference with the theme of “Baby Boomers and Women’s Health.” The educational conference, hosted by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), will be in Miami from April 25 to 27. The APTA news release notes that physical therapists from the Caribbean, US, Canada, and South America will gather to take part in the event.
According to the APTA news release, presentations at the 2014 conference will highlight collaboration across borders and disciplines and will target aging Baby Boomers and women’s health, two growing sectors in healthcare. The speakers for the event include: Marilyn Moffatt, PT, DPT, Phd, GCS, CSCS, CEEAA, FAPTA; Jack Miller, PT, DipMT, MCISc, DPT, FCAMPT; Chris Showalter, PT, COMPT, OCS, FAAOMPT; Timothy Flynn, PT, PhD; Pamela Downey, PT, DPT, WCS; and Alejandro Badia, MD, FACS.
The educational programming will feature a variety of topics during the multi-day event, including: Current Concepts in Upper Extremity Sports Trauma and Osteoarthritic Care; Evidence-Based Examination and Exercise Prescription for Aging Adults; Maximizing Mobility and Function in the Active Senior: A Manual Therapy Approach; and Manipulation, Exercise, & Managing Low Back Pain: Focus on Adults and Older Adults.
