The Sandra and Malcolm Berman Brain & Spine Institute at LifeBridge Health in Baltimore, Md has been recognized for excellence in treating stroke. The institute was acknowledge for its exceptional quality of stroke care with a Target: Stroke designation and two Get With The Guidelines–Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Awards from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, according to a LifeBridge Health news release.
The Berman Brain & Spine Institute’s Stroke Center at Sinai Hospital was awarded the Target: Stroke designation because of its excellence in delivering timely critical care to acute stroke patients. The designation was earned because the criteria was met by Sinai Hospital for providing IV tPA to at least 50% of ischemic stroke patients within an hour of arriving at the hospital. This rate was accomplished over the last 6 months of 2012.
The Berman Brain & Spine Institute offers a comprehensive approach to stroke treatment, according to the LifeBridge Health news release, and services are available at both Sinai and Northwest Hospitals.
The Stroke Centers at Sinai and Northwest Hospitals received the honor of 2013 Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Awards. The LifeBridge Health news release indicates that the award recognizes hospitals with at least 85% compliance with key national stroke care guidelines for 24 or more consecutive months.
